THANK YOU to the Mid Coast Community!

2020 was our best year yet! We are so thankful for everyone who stopped by – to say hello, to get a pumpkin or two (or more :), to hear about the Pumpkin Patch. Thanks to your support, in addition to raising funds for MCPC’s ministry we were able in turn to support the Navajo Nation in a very difficult year. (We return 75% of our sales totals to the Navajo Nation through the Pumpkin Patch network.) The following is a letter we received from the Pumpkin Patch folks. It is a JOY to be part of the Mid Coast community!

Dear Partners,
At the beginning of the shipping season it seemed that we would never be able to repay the line of credit we used for the 2020 Pumpkin growing season. So many of our partners passed on doing a patch in 2020 due to the virus.
A combination of a pumpkin shortage in most parts of the country and you, the remaining group of dedicated and patient partners, produced record sales at your individual locations. Many of you have experienced a significant increase in sales. We know some of your organizations are also struggling, we hope this helps.
So many small businesses, like ourselves, are in trouble. Some are even losing their businesses that took a lifetime to build. This has been a difficult year for all of us, we are extremely grateful to have survived. Normal revenue was down around 30% this year. Good news, partners like yourselves were up significantly and that helped save our business.
Please share this story and my Thanks to all Coordinators and volunteers.
Thanks, Richard Hamby

Pumpkins of all variety, size, and color are for sale with 75% of sales going toward support of the Navajo nation in the western USA. The Pumpkin Patch is open daily through October 31, Noon to 6 PM, weather permitting.

Nearly 3,000 pumpkins arrived Saturday, October 10. Special thanks to Southern Maine Movers who helped us get the pumpkins off the truck and to all the wonderful volunteers who set them up for sale on our front lawn. We are so glad to carry on this annual tradition for the 10th year as we celebrate Autumn and welcome the community to take photos along with purchasing a pumpkin (or 2 or 3…). Children of ALL ages are welcome! Please note that we are following Covid safety guidelines, and masks are required for all (exceptions for health concerns and for very young children).
