We are proud to provide space and support to the Bright Start Early Childhood Center which serves children ages 2 through 5 with a preschool, K-ready, as well as full and part-time day care. Open 6:30 am to 5:30 pm weekdays, Bright Start provides a high quality learning environment and loving atmosphere that includes weekly visits from Kindermusic and the Tumble Bus. Members of the congregation complement the professional staff . The staff regularly attends training to remain on the cutting edge of educational practices and addressing special needs.
The congregation supports the Sudanese Fellowship in Portland and is connected to the South African Partnership of the Presbytery of Northern New England. MCPC is a covenant church with Habitat for Humanity and participated in founding the local chapter. Our activities include participating in local builds, fundraising walks, and working at ReStore. Many of our congregation members volunteer and fund Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, Tedford Shelter, Hospice Care, Mission at the Eastward (M.A.T.E) and a host of outreach organizations.
Our building is used by Girl Scout Troops, Recovery Programs, the Oratorio Chorale, and various community gatherings. A couple of times a year we also sponsor Red Cross blood drives.
Our Deacons provide transportation and nurture to members and friends of the congregation. Committed to caring for the “least of these” among us, there is a casserole ministry, caring communication via card ministry, and regular visitation to those unable to worship with us on Sunday mornings.
